Hey r/cybersecurity,
I'm a year out from my SkillBridge eligibility and trying to get a head start on finding the right opportunity, preferably in pentesting. I've been combing through the official DoD SkillBridge website, but I know from experience that some of the best opportunities are often unlisted or happen through direct outreach.
A bit about my background to see if there's a good fit:
- Current Role: I'm currently working as a Cyber Security Technician in the AF.
- Education: I'm about a year away from finishing my B.S. in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from WGU.
- Certifications: I have the CompTIA Trifecta (A+, Net+, Sec+) and I'm actively studying for my CySA+.
I'm reaching out to this community to ask two things:
- Do you know of any companies (preferably in the pentesting space) that are known to take on SkillBridge interns but might not be on the official partner list?
- Have any of you personally gone through a SkillBridge program for Cybersecurity ? I would love to hear about your experience or how you found the opportunity, what the work was like, and any we advice you have.
Thanks in advance for any leads or insights. I'm really passionate about breaking into offensive security and want to make the most of this transition program.
